"Woodland Bottoms, Woodland, Washington ... January 31, 2012"
The Trip:    Overcast warm winter day, lots of clouds and very little sun ... went to see the Loon species which were being reported at the mouth of the Lewis River ... SUCCESS !!! ... located two Red-throated Loons and one Common Loon ... then on Burke Slough (northern Woodland Bottoms) there was a Pacific Loon ... other birds of note: 41 Great Egrets in one of the fields, four adult Bald Eagles, and small flocks of Common Mergansers on the Lewis.

Woodland Bottoms:    Woodland Bottoms is the floodplain of the Lewis River. The area is in Cowlitz County and is bordered on the north by Burke Slough, on the south by the Lewis River, on the east by Interstate 5, and on the west by the Columbia River.
