The Trips:    May 18, 2019:   Overcast spring day ... went to Vanport Wetlands to look for shorebirds which have been being seen there ... WRONG - there was an event going on in the field so no birding !!! ... headed to Force Lake, then Heron Lakes, with a stop at Vanport's northeastern corner, where we had a FOY Virginia Rail !!! ... stop by PDX Fire Station on the way home where we had a tagged Red-tailed Hawk.
May 24, 2019:   Overcast spring day ... went to Force Lake to look for the Green Heron which has been seen there recently ... SUCCESS !!! ... also had FIVE types of Swallows PLUS the Vaux's Swift ... side trip to Heron Lakes (quiet) and PDX Fire Station (quiet).

Red-tailed Hawk, "X/R", PDX Fire Station, Portland, Oregon. Tagged and Banded. Image taken May 18, 2019. Canon EOS, 300z.

According to "PDXRaptors.com", this Red-tailed Hawk was captured at PDX on September 18th, 2018, received its leg bands and wing-tags, and then released in Prineville, Oregon. It was first observed back at PDX on October 1st, 2018, and has been seen many times since then.
