"Eagle Creek Overlook, Columbia River, Oregon"
Eagle Creek Overlook:    There is an overlook at the mouth of Eagle Creek, on the Oregon side of the Columbia River at River Mile 150. It is ONLY accessible from the east-bound lanes of Interstate 84. It is an enjoyable place to stop, as you never know what you will see when you look across the waters. Walk a short bit upstream too for more birds. And scan the trees for even MORE birds.

NOTE: photographing birds here is a challenge (IMHO) ... the lighting is seldom right !!! ... the "bay" is best done with high power lens during the morning hours as afternoon/evening is looking into the sun (if there is any) ... the river, hemmed in its valley, is almost constantly in the shade.

Multnomah County:   Multnomah County stretches over 50 miles along the Columbia River, from Sauvie Island, northwest of Portland, to Eagle Creek, in the Columbia River Gorge. It has a variety of habitats resulting in a variety of birds. For more birds seen or photographed in Multnomah County ... click here.
