"Lesser Goldfinch"
Lesser Goldfinch:   The Lesser Goldfinch was named by Thomas Say, chief naturalist with Major Long's 1819 to 1820 Expedition to the Rocky Mountains. Say wrote: "A very pretty little bird was frequently seen hopping about in the low trees or bushes, singing sweetly, somewhat in the manner of the American goldfinch."
